The different types of evaluation frameworks
EdTech evaluation frameworks aren’t neutral or objective. Instead, they support the distinct needs of different stakeholders with a variety of different outputs creating an ecosystem of evaluation types. It will be necessary to create more systematic connections between these various types of evaluation frameworks in order to develop a comprehensive ecosystem of evaluation, and to ensure that all stakeholder needs are met.

Trust plays a crucial role in the development, selection and adoption of quality EdTech solutions. However, several challenges undermine this trust, including a general bias against technology and the private sector and the regulatory complexities of fragmented education systems. Recent in-person workshops through the EdTech Strategy Labs, held at the Global Education Coalition meeting at UNESCO in March, SETT Stockholm in April, and the EdTech Austria Summit in May, have highlighted some of the key issues facing trust and evidence.

Kucirkova, Professor of Reading and Early Childhood, University of Stavanger, Norway and The Open University, UK., two prominent researchers in their fields, who discussed the critical themes of trust and evidence in educational technology.

This year’s SETT in Stockholm (Scandinavian Education Technology Transformation) featured a one-day long special format targeting education stakeholders from across the Scandinavian countries to network, share experiences, and gain a Nordic perspective on the most current educational issues and aimed to gather stakeholder perspectives on challenges and opportunities related to quality assurance in EdTech.

The European Educational Alliance (EEA) supported bythe Jacobs Foundation facilitated a dynamic workshop at the fourth annual meeting of the UNESCO Global Education Coalition on 25 March 2024. It was a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up session contributing to a shared vision among key stakeholders regarding the formation and operation of a global EdTech alliance with quality assurance at its centre.
